Metrics are the life blood of project management and control. They provide vital information for the project manager to evaluate progress and take corrective action, when necessary.
Too often, however, project metrics are based solely on intended outcomes (e.g. total budget, completion date). These lag measures do not provide the project manager with sufficient “in process” feedback to make an informed decision.
